Search tips

  • Use uncommon words For example, if you want to know the cost of a Priority Mail Flat Rate box, instead of searching for "Priority Mail" or "box," try searching for "Flat Rate" instead.
  • Use specific phrases The term "shipping label" will provide fewer returned FAQs than the word "label." Similarly the phrase "technical support" will return fewer results than "technical."

How can I initiate a Telephone Change of Address?

You can submit a domestic Telephone Change of Address (TCOA) request by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777). Filing a Telephone Change of Address adds security, convenience, and improved accuracy.

For your security, you must have a valid credit or debit card for identity validation before the Change of Address can be processed. You will be charged a $1.00 verification fee upon successful confirmation of the request.

The U.S. Postal Service™ electronically verifies the information you entered with the bank that issued your card. This is done to verify that the address you provide matches the address record for your card. The verification fee pays for this service, which helps verify your address, and provide a secure online transaction. If you prefer not to pay the $1.00 verification fee, you have the following options:

    • Using the online system, print and mail your COA.
    • Go to your local Post Office™ and complete a PS Form 3575 (Change of Address Request form)

When you enter your credit card or debit card number and billing address, USPS® electronically verifies that information with the bank that issued your card. This is done through a USPS contractor who is able to verify the address you provided matches the address record for your card.  A $1.00 Verification Fee is charged. The processing fee pays for this verification service, which helps us verify your address to provide a secure online transaction.

Telephone Change of Address only accepts the following cards (either credit cards or debit cards):

  • MasterCard®
  • Visa®

How can I correct a Telephone Change of Address?

You can correct an existing Telephone Change of Address (COA) request by submitting a new Change of Address Form (PS Form 3575) reflecting the new information to the Post Office currently forwarding your mail. Please make sure to write "CORRECTION" at the top of the form to indicate the changes that were made.

The corrected Change of Address Form must follow the rules below:

  • The old address must be the same as on the original request form
  • The name(s) must be the same as the original.  If the original name was incorrect, you should cancel the first Change of Address request and complete a new one with the corrected name.
  • The filer must check the correct box (Individual or Family)
  • You must write "CORRECTION" at the top of the form
  • Turn the Change of Address form over and print the city, state, and ZIP Code™ of your old Post Office
  • The Change of Address Form should be dropped off at or mailed to your old Post Office

Note: If the individual that moved is unable to file the Change of Address correction, then a remaining family member may be able to submit the request. This is based on the policy that the Change of Address must be filed by the individual who originally filed or by someone authorized to file such a Change of Address for that individual.
