The Postal Service offers over 65 standard packaging supplies that customers may choose from to ship Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express International and Priority Mail International. There is no charge for this packaging when used as intended. It can be ordered online or by phone and will be delivered to your home or business. Limited packaging is available is small quantities at most retail locations.
How do I order free shipping supplies?
To order free labels, boxes, and envelopes online at The Postal Store:
- Go to The Postal Store® at www.usps.com/shop and select "Supplies" – OR – move your cursor over "Shop" in the top navigation and select "Shipping Supplies."
- Order free supplies by selecting "Free Shipping Supplies" in the left-hand navigation.
To order free shipping labels, boxes, and envelopes online through Click-N-Ship®:
- Add a label to your cart
- Select the "Add Shipping Supplies" button under the label in the cart.
To order free shipping supplies by phone, call the Package Supply Center at 1-800-610-8734. Hours of operation are:
- Monday through Friday - 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time
- Saturdays - 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time
- Sundays and Holidays - Closed (see USPS® Holiday Service Schedule)
What else do I need to know about these free shipping supplies?
- Orders for free shipping supplies are shipped within one business day from order receipt. They are shipped via USPS Ground Advantage® service with an expected delivery of 2-5 business days at no cost to the you. Free shipping supplies can be shipped via Priority Mail® service with an expected delivery of 1-3 business days for a fee.
- If a single quantity of an item is desired but unavailable for individual order online at The Postal Store:
- Order the desired item in the lowest quantity available then return extra (unused) supplies to your local Post Office or save them for future use.
- Pick up single quantities of Priority Mail Express®, Priority Mail®, and other supplies free of charge at most Post Office™ retail locations.
- Label availability: At this point, pre-printed labels are not available online. You may request Priority Mail® service labels by calling the Package Supply Center.
- If you want to order Priority Mail labels with a company name and address should call the Package Supply Center.
Are there any restrictions on free shipping supplies?
Any supplies mailed in Priority Mail Express® or Priority Mail® packaging provided by the US Postal Service is charged the appropriate Priority Mail Express or Priority Mail price, regardless of how the packaging is reconfigured (turned inside out) or how the markings are obliterated.
If any Priority Mail Express or Priority Mail packaging or packaging supplies (e.g., Priority Mail tape to seal a Parcel Select® package) are used on any other class of mail, the applicable Priority Mail Express or Priority Mail price will be charged.
- Priority Mail Express or Priority Mail packaging provided by the US Postal Service can only be used for the class of mail specified on the box (Priority Mail Express® service or Priority Mail® service). Misuse may be a violation of federal law.
- If you want to complain or report misuse of supplies, please contact your local Post Office.
- Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express packages and envelopes can be used to ship in the United States or to another country.
- Most Post Office™ retail locations provide free Priority Mail® and Priority Mail Express® packaging supplies for customer pick-up.
- USPS-produced packaging is not eligible for shipping mailable hazardous material or live animals.
- Note: USPS Ground Advantage and USPS Connect® Local USPS-produced packaging may be used for shipping mailable hazardous material.
In addition, if you are a large volume mailer or you cannot get to a Post Office, you can also order shipping supplies online for free from The Postal Store®. Go to www.usps.com/shop and click on "Supplies". From there, you can search for all of the free shipping supplies by product type.
If you don't have internet access (or wish to place an order that is larger than the maximum amount allowed online), you can call the USPS Package Supply Center.
