Priority Mail Express International® service is a reliable, high-speed mail service for correspondence, printed matter, and packages.  It is available to more than 180 countries and offers the following:

  • Average delivery of 3 to 5 business days. (Average number of days may vary based upon origin and destination.)
  • Can be tracked by:
    • Using the USPS Tracking® page and entering the item's Tracking Number
    • Calling the phone number at Contact USPS (under USPS Tracking). Hours of operation provided
  • Customers can save time and ship from their home or office.
  • Customers can go to "Prepare International Shipmentsto do the following:
    • Order free packaging supplies.
    • Print shipping labels and customs forms all in one document (PS Form 2976-B, Priority Mail Express International Shipping Label and Customs Form, available starting July 2013).
    • Request free Package Pickup™ service.
    • Track shipments. 
  • Reciprocal services listed in the Postage Price Calculator.
  • Check the Postage Price Calculator for individual country limitations. 
  • Service is available from any Post Office™. 
  • In addition to cash, check, and credit/debit cards, customers may pay with stamps or postage meter strips.

Insurance
Insurance against loss, damage, or missing contents is available at no additional cost to mailer (up to $100 for documents and up to $200 for merchandise).

  • Additional coverage may be purchased at any Post Office™ or by using Click-N-Ship® for amounts up to $5,000.
  • Insurance availability varies by country, content, and value. See the Individual Country Listings for availability and insurance limits.
  • Insurance for merchandise is provided automatically up to $200. The included insurance covers loss, damage, or missing contents at no additional cost to the mailer.
    • Coverage is limited both to the actual value of the shipment and by country of destination.
  • Insurance, which provides document reconstruction for nonnegotiable documents (such as audit and business records), is provided automatically up to $100. Insurance covers loss, damage, or missing contents at no additional cost to the mailer.  Additional coverage beyond $100 is not available.
  • Priority Mail Express International® items are not insured against delay in delivery. There is no indemnity payment in the event of a delay. However, with Priority Mail Express International® with Money-Back Guarantee Service, postage refunds for delay are considered.
    • Neither indemnity payments nor postage refunds will be made in the following situations involving Priority Mail Express International with Money-Back Guarantee Service:
      • Delivery was attempted but could not be made.
      • The delivery address or postal code was incomplete or inaccurate.
      • The item was detained or delayed by customs or any other government or law enforcement agency of the destination country. 
      • The item had to be forwarded to another address.
      • Delay resulted from any defect or characteristic due to the nature of the shipment, even if known to USPS at acceptance.
      • The item was delayed by any circumstance beyond the control of USPS and the foreign postal administration, acts of God, force majeure, terrorist activities, strikes, labor actions, war, insurrection, or civil disobedience.
      • The item was held by customs at origin or destination for more than 24 hours. If the item was held by customs for less than 24 hours, the guarantee may be adjusted to account for the delay by customs.
      • The item was not deposited at a designated Priority Mail Express facility.

Delivery Delays
Priority Mail Express International® items are not insured against delay in delivery (with the exception of Priority Mail Express International® with Money-Back Guarantee (PMEI-DC) service). Neither indemnity payments nor postage refunds will be made in case of delay of Priority Mail Express International service.


NOTE: Maximum size dimensions for Priority Mail Express International service vary by country and are noted in the Individual Country Listings. The maximum weight limit for Priority Mail Express International service is 70 pounds; however, size and weight limits apply depending on the destination country.

Please note the following when using Priority Mail Express International® Service

Pickup On Demand® service is available for Priority Mail Express International Service; see  What is Package Pickup and What is Pickup on Demand for additional information or Schedule a Pickup to request the service.

Priority Mail Express International items bearing a computer-generated customs form with customs data that has been electronically transmitted (e.g., using Click-N-Ship® service, an authorized PC Postage® vendor, or the USPS Web Tools® system), may be deposited through any of the following methods, provided postage is paid by a means other than the use of postage stamps:

  • In a private mailbox bearing a return address that matches the address at the point of pick up, when the customer or business is known to reside or do business at that location.
  • Through Pickup on Demand service.
  • Through Package Pickup service.
  • At a Postal Service™ retail counter.
  • Into a Postal Service lobby drop.
  • In a collection box.
  • At a Contract Postal Unit (CPU).
  • At a USPS Approved Shipper location.

Priority Mail Express International items not eligible for deposit or pickup:

Customers must present the following Priority Mail Express International items requiring a customs form to an employee at a Post Office™ retail service counter. All deposit and pickup methods listed above are prohibited. If any of the following Priority Mail Express International items are not submitted to the USPS at a Post Office™ retail service counter, the Postal Service will return these improperly presented items to the sender:

  • Any item bearing a customs form and paid with only postage stamps.
  • Any item bearing a handwritten customs form.
  • Any item bearing a customs form that was not computer-generated.
  • Any item for which the customs data was not electronically transmitted. 

Priority Mail Express International® (PMEI) labels typically begin with two alpha characters ("E" followed by any other letter), followed by nine numbers, and two more alpha characters.

Priority Mail Express International® Flat Rate Service:

Priority Mail Express International Flat Rate Boxes (and Priority Mail Express Flat Rate Boxes) are discontinued as of January 17, 2016. Customers can continue using the boxes listed below for shipping after that date, but will be charged the appropriate Priority Mail Express or Priority Mail Express International price based on weight and destination.

  • The top-loading box (PME-FRB1) is 11 inches x 8-1/2 inches x 5-1/2 inches inside.
  • The side-loading box (PME-FRB2) is 13-5/8 inches x 11-7/8 inches x 3-3/8 inches inside.

Priority Mail Express International Flat Rate Envelopes have a 4 pound weight maximum (some countries have lower weight restrictions) and eight destination-specific prices (to Canada and seven other geographical regions).  See Priority Mail Express International for more information.  

Note:  Domestic Priority Mail Express® Flat Rate Envelopes with prepaid postage may be used for a Priority Mail Express International item as long as appropriate additional postage is added before mailing.
