Adult Signature Required and Adult Signature Restricted Delivery are available for purchase as extra services on most mail types to ensure delivered items are signed for by eligible adults, 21 years of age and above.

What is Adult Signature Required?
- Adult Signature Required is a service that ensures that the recipient of the mail items is at least 21 years of age or above. The recipient or a resident of the recipient's address is required to show a form of photo identification to the delivery employee for age confirmation. This ensures that the sender of the mailpiece did not give the item to an underage person.
What is Adult Signature Restricted Delivery?
- Adult Signature Restricted Delivery ensures delivery of a package addressed to an adult 21 years of age or older. This service requires the signature of the addressee only, who must be 21 years of age or older.
- Note: Prior to delivery, the recipient is required to show a government issued photo identification for proof of age and, in some cases, identity.

What Does an Adult Signature Label Look Like?
- Customers will be provided the signature and name of the recipient, along with the date, time and location of the delivery.

What information is available when you purchase Adult Signature Required Service?
You can request the following information:
- Recipient's signature.
- Recipient's printed first initial and last name.
- Date, time and location of the delivery.
- USPS Tracking® provides end-to-end item tracking and status. It is automatically included with all USPS domestic shipping products – except commercial USPS Marketing Mail® parcels.
How can I confirm the delivery of an Adult Signature Required/ Adult Signature Restricted Delivery item?
- Package tracking information can be retrieved through USPS Tracking available on USPS.com®.
- A Proof of Delivery (POD) letter, which has a copy of the signature, can be obtained by email at no additional expense by going to the USPS Tracking® website, entering the article barcode number of the mailpiece, and requesting a POD via email.
- Email requests are processed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Return Receipt purchased at mailing, if applicable, provides a proof of delivery letter. Mailed receipts are sent as First-Class Mail® items and should arrive in 2-3 business days.
- Bulk proof of delivery is available to authorized commercial mailers. Through bulk proof of delivery, you can obtain signature data in a signature extract file format.

How long is the delivery information available?
- Information via USPS Tracking is available for 45 days after date of delivery before it is archived.
- Archived information can be restored through USPS Tracking as well.
- USPS® maintains all delivery information, which includes the recipient's signature and proof of delivery, for up to 2 years after the date of delivery.
