General Information
USPS Marketing Mail® is mail matter that is not required to be mailed as First-Class Mail® or Periodicals. Lower nonprofit prices are available for USPS Marketing Mail, but require specific authorization.
Mailers use USPS Marketing Mail to send:
USPS Marketing Mail Characteristics
- USPS Marketing Mail is not forwarded or returned unless requested with an ancillary service endorsement.
- Forwarding and return services may result in additional fees or postage.
- Only the following extra services may be used with USPS Marketing Mail parcels. They are not included with Marketing Mail and must be purchased (see Notice 123 for fees):
- Electronic USPS Tracking®
- Bulk Insurance (only on Nonprofit USPS Marketing Mail machinable and irregular parcels)
- Certificate of Mailing
Qualifications for Sending Marketing Mail Items
- All USPS Marketing Mail prices are bulk prices requiring a Business Mail Permit.
- Minimum Weight: Starts at 1 ounce
- Maximum Weight: less than 16 ounces
- Minimum Quantity: 200 pieces or 50 pounds of mail
- In USPS Marketing Mail, there are prices for Letters, Flats/Large Envelopes, and Parcels. Per piece and per pound prices for bulk mailings are available at Notice 123.
- There is no single-piece USPS Marketing Mail postage.
- Unlike First-Class Mail, there is no separate USPS Marketing Mail postcard price (USPS Marketing Mail postcards are mailed as letters or flats depending on size).
What is Non-Profit USPS Marketing Mail?
Nonprofit USPS Marketing Mail is printed material eligible to be mailed as USPS Marketing Mail at significantly reduced nonprofit postage rates when sent by nonprofit organizations authorized by the Postal Service™.
